AGM and Board nominations
27 Feb 2026

Are you passionate about contributing to the growth and vibrancy of choral music in Aotearoa? We're seeking nominations for members of our Governance Board.
Read on for details of our AGM in May. Nominations for Board members close on Friday 20 March.
Members in the Manawatū-Whanganui region can also make nominations for the position of Regional Representative. Details are below.
Call for nomination of Governance Board members
This year, there are three Board vacancies to fill, with two current members intending to stand for re-election. Robin Randall stepped down from the NZCF Board at the end of 2025 and both Raymond Tan and our Chair, Pete Rainey, will complete their current 3-year terms in May. Kim Cunningham (Deputy Chair), Melissa Absolum, Karen Grylls, Henrietta Hunkin-Tagaloa and Sam Nicholson will continue as Board members.
Pete and Raymond have indicated their intention to stand for re-election. Further nominations are now called for. Nominees must be a current Personal/ACD Member or a member of a Member Choir.
If there are more than three nominations (including those of Pete Rainey and Raymond Tan), there will be an election by poll, details of which will be emailed to all members and posted on the NZCF website. If not, Pete, Raymond and the other nominee will be deemed to have been elected unopposed, and no poll will take place.

Manawatū-Whanganui Region - Call for nomination of Regional Representative
In May 2025, Nigel Tongs was elected to the new role of Manawatū-Whanganui NZCF Regional Representative. However, Nigel has recently taken on the role of Regional Events Coordinator (organising The Big Sing, The Kids Sing, SingFest and a Regional Workshop) so will step down as Regional Rep. We are very grateful to Nigel for his support of the Manawatū‑Whanganui choral community in 2025 and are delighted that he will continue to fill a key NZCF role in the region.
We are now calling for nominations to fill the Regional Representative role from May 2026.
The Representative acts as a liaison between choirs and singing groups in their region, fostering a strong and connected choral community. This is a voluntary position, for a 3-year term. The Regional Representative will be a member of the National Advisory Council (NAC) and will bring their local perspective to the development of NZCF’s nationwide strategy.
Role of Regional Representative and Nomination Form
Nominations for Board and Regional Representative vacancies close on Friday 20 March 2026.
The nomination form should be completed by the nominator, seconder and nominee. Notice of an election, if any, will be sent after nominations have closed. Please note that only current (paid-up) members (including Member Choirs, through their appointed representative) are entitled to nominate and vote for candidates.
