Let's Get Singing: Workshops for teachers

NZCF offers free professional development workshops, helping school teachers across the motu kickstart singing in their classrooms.

If you're keen to introduce or add more singing into your primary or intermediate classroom, let us show you some songs and games that can support your students’ learning, improve hauora and help build their confidence and sense of community.

Lala 's Wellington Workshop 1Our workshops offer:

  • Singing for teachers to enhance your own musicianship and wellbeing.

  • Help with developing classroom, assembly, or co-curricular singing in your school - even if you aren’t a confident singer.

  • Resources and songs for different year groups, including waiata Māori.

  • Ideas for using singing for routines, to reinforce learning, and for fun!

These workshops are part of NZCF’S outreach programme, “Singing for Lifelong Wellbeing”, and are funded through a grant from Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture & Heritage.

In 2023, teacher workshops were held in Auckland, Waihi, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. So far in 2024, workshops have taken place in Havelock North, Hamilton, Nelson and Whangārei, with many more to come. For details on upcoming workshops, and to register, see below.
