Prepare to be transported from Hollywood’s Golden Age to modern cinematic triumphs as the Central Otago Regional Choir presents its November concert series, "Songs from the Silver Screen."
Under the baton of conductor Richard Madden with accompanist Alison Frude and featuring Kate Lovell (Wanaka) on double bass and Peter Doyle (Queenstown) on drums, this captivating musical journey brings the most iconic soundtracks of film history to life in rich, live choral harmony.
The choir is excited to welcome as guest artists music students and recipients of the choir’s scholarship, Ameera Woods (soprano) and Ozan Biner-McGrath (piano). A classical voice student at Otago, Ameera was placed 3rd in the Otautahi Aria finals this year and was one of two New Zealanders selected for the Asia Pacific Youth Choir in South Korea. She will enchant with four carefully chosen songs while Ozan, winner of the Dunedin Concerto Competition and NZSO emerging artist in 2025, will delight with pieces by Rachmaninoff and Chopin.
