Schola Sacra Choir is very pleased to announce its next concert, to be performed in Big School at Whanganui Collegiate on Saturday 23 August at 2.30pm - 132 Liverpool Street.
The choir is performing an exciting work entitled Petite Messe Solennelle, by Italian composer Rossini, who is normally more associated with opera. In 1863, more than 30 years after he retired from composing opera, he composed this Mass which was his last major work. Rossini has created a vibrant, varied yet respectful work that entertains audiences, while adhering musically to the sacred nature of the text.
Accompaniment will be provided by Guy Donaldson on the school's Steinway grand piano, with Alison Stewart on harmonium, and four professional vocal soloists each have roles in solo, duet, trio and quartet music.
