Linden Singers: All You Need is Love

The members of the Linden Singers choir declare that their next concert on Sunday, May 25, will be a musical feast of contemporary and traditional songs about love – all kinds of love: romantic, parental, spiritual and more. The song which gives us the concert title tune will be familiar – it will be heard in a Beatles’ medley guaranteed to get the toes tapping.
Other popular songs on the theme of love are Cole Porter’s “Night and Day,” the “Londonderry Air” (also known as “Danny Boy”) and Stevie Wonder’s gentle “Isn’t She Lovely
We are also excited to present the premier performance of a composition by multi-talented Musical Director, Jane Pierard. “Song for Another Life” is based on fragments of text from a poem by Rachel Lockwood and features a mezzo-soprano soloist along with the choir and some added sound effects.
Jane is well-known in the Hawke’s Bay music for her involvement in music and theatre arts. She loves to encourage young musicians and has invited classical guitarist and young euphonium player to feature as guest artists in this concert.
