Holy Trinity Cathedral: Come and Sing Stainer's Crucifixion

Following on from four Come and Sing EVENSONG events over the last two years and last year’s Come & Sing Crucifixion, we now invite you to take part in another performance of Stainer’s magnificent Easter oratorio The Crucifixion.

This glorious work will be familiar to many of you, and if you don’t already know it, here is a chance to experience one of the great choral works.

Experience the joy and excitement of Cathedral singing by joining with the Cathedral Choir for this special service. Stainer’s Crucifixion is one of the important works of the Easter season and we are thrilled to give you the opportunity to join with the Holy Trinity Cathedral Choir for this performance.

Cathedral Director of Choirs, Peter Watts, will be directing the choir, and Cathedral Organist, Dr Philip Smith, will be playing the magnificent Holy Trinity organ. Soloists will be Ivan Zhang (tenor) and Blake Scanlen (bass).

PDF’s of the music will be sent out in advance, along with links to recordings on YouTube to aid your preparation. Hard copies will be available at the rehearsals.

One prior rehearsal:
Saturday 12 April
4.00-6.00 Rehearsal in the Cathedral Nave

On the day:
Sunday 13 April
2.30-3.30 Rehearsal in the Cathedral Nave
3.30-3.45 Refreshments in the Bishop Monteith Visitors’ Centre
3.45-4.45 Rehearsal in the Cathedral Nave
5.00-6.00 Performance

This is a great opportunity to enjoy singing in the inspiring acoustic of Holy Trinity Cathedral alongside others who adore singing choral music, so please share this information as widely as you can. Choral experience is obviously helpful, but not a requirement for taking part in this performance. Give it a try!!
