HMS Pinafore, a satirical take on class and love, tells the story of Josephine, the captain’s daughter, who finds herself torn between her duty to her aristocratic suitor and her love for a lowly sailor, Ralph Rackstraw. With memorable melodies, witty narration, and vibrant characters, this operetta is a joyful celebration of love that transcends social status.

Music Director Kolitha Jayatunge brings a fresh vision to this classic, blending traditional elements with a modern twist. “We aim to capture the spirit of HMS Pinafore while making it relevant for today’s audience,” said Koli. “The themes of love and social equality. resonate just as strongly now as they did in the 19th century.”

The talented cast features Venessa Joyce as Josephine, David Holmes as Captain Corcoran, Ian Campbell as Sir Joseph porter K.C.B., Jane Martin as Little Buttercup and Sally Rosenberg as Cousin Hebe. The concert will be accompanied by Jonathan Dunlop on piano, bringing the vibrant score to life.

Join us for an evening filled with laughter, romance, and spectacular music. Cantando Choir is dedicated to promoting the arts and fostering a love for musical performances in our community. Through productions like HMS Pinafore, we aim to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences of all ages.
