The Hamilton Civic Choir invites you to FOLLOW THE STAR, a radiant evening of choral music that journeys across continents and constellations in celebration of the heavens and the human spirit.
This annual fundraising concert features an evocative programme of international works inspired by stars, skies, and sacred light. Highlights include Morten Lauridsen’s tender and luminous "Sure on this Shining Night" (USA), Eleanor Daley’s poetic "Salutation of the Dawn" (Canada), and the haunting "Last Night of Stars" by Don MacDonald (Canada). Audiences will also be transported by the serenity of Ivo Antognini’s "Ave Maris Stella" (Switzerland), the vibrant rhythms of "Hoja Ke Nonyana" by South African composer Michael Mosoeu Moerane, and the exhilarating energy of "Dance-Song to the Creator" by New Zealand’s own David Hamilton.
We are honoured to be joined by the acclaimed Young Women’s Chorus of San Francisco, part of the prestigious Young Women’s Choral Projects, led by Artistic Director Matthew Otto. Renowned for their exceptional artistry, pure tone, and inspiring leadership in youth choral music, this ensemble brings a fresh and dynamic presence to the stage. Their collaboration with the Hamilton Civic Choir marks a rare and exciting international exchange that celebrates the power of music to connect hearts across the globe.
