Step into the ethereal realm of Sir Edward Elgar’s masterpiece, The Dream of Gerontius, and experience an extraordinary musical voyage that transcends time and space. Crafted by the genius of one of Britain's most illustrious composers, this monumental choral symphony unveils the poignant tale of Gerontius, whose soul departs his body and embarks on a spiritual journey, guided and watched over by his guardian angel.

In this awe-inspiring journey, Gerontius encounters angels, demons, and ultimately faces divine judgement. Immerse yourself in the majestic orchestration and lush harmonies of Elgar’s visionary composition, widely considered a pinnacle of the choral and orchestral repertory. The title roles of Gerontius and The Soul will be sung by the tenor Emmanuel Fonoti-Fuimaono, while his brother, the bass-baritone Alfred Fonoti-Fuimaono sings the role of The Priest. Mezzo-soprano Kristin Darragh will sing the role of The Angel.

Joining forces with Auckland Choral for this epic performance are the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and the Auckland Chamber Choir, forming a choir of over 200 voices.
