We are excited to announce Francisco J. Núñez as one of our international Zoom presenters for Choral Connect. Francisco Núñez is a MacArthur Fellow and was Musical America’s 2018 Educator of the Year.

Francisco is the artistic director/founder of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City, renowned worldwide for its diversity and artistic excellence. The Young People's Chorus competed at the World Choir Games in Auckland last year and their journey to the Games was featured in the Choir Games TV series, currently screening on NEON. Francisco and his wife Elizabeth Núñez are now expanding the YPC model to children’s choruses beyond New York City.

He is also the principal conductor of the American Young Voices concerts of schoolchildren performing in some of the largest arenas in the Northeast, and is sought after nationwide as a guest conductor by professional orchestras and choirs. Francisco is recognised as a leading authority on the role of music in achieving equality and diversity among children in today’s society.

As a composer, Francisco Núñez won early acclaim for seamlessly fusing a wide gamut of cultures and musical idioms, writing his first choral work, Misa Pequeña, at age 15.  Today, he composes countless compositions and arrangements in all musical formats and styles, from classical to pop, for choirs, orchestras, and solo instruments, all of which are published by Boosey & Hawkes

We are thrilled to have Francisco Núñez presenting at Choral Connect. Read more about Francisco Núñez on his website.
