As we have seen on the recent TV series Choir Games, or if you experienced it personally, the impact of the 2024 World Choir Games was deep, powerful and lasting on singers and audiences alike. Auckland was alive with the energy and creativity of over 250 choirs from 42 countries performing in 54 Friendship concerts, 7 Celebration concerts, and participating in 10 days of competition. It was a massive undertaking, involving 46 staff, 31 venues and 360 volunteers. And at the helm of this massive waka were two inspirational leaders – John Rosser (Artistic and Games Director) and Kylie Sealy (Executive Director).

John led all aspects of the Games' artistic programming with clarity of vision and sensitivity to cultural integrity. His artistic flair was especially evident in the creation and delivery of Matariki He Kāhu Reo, a uniquely New Zealand choral showcase given two performances as the cultural centrepiece of the Games.

The NZCF Board is delighted to present John with a Distinguished Service Award. They thank him for his unwavering commitment to choral music and for bringing the World Choir Games to life in a way that truly reflected the spirit of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Kylie oversaw a vast array of logistics—coordinating with venues, accommodation and transport providers, local authorities, Immigration New Zealand and a raft of suppliers. She expertly managed relationships with key stakeholders, she ensured that the volunteers—essential to the event—were well-supported and effectively managed, and her careful financial management ensured the Games were delivered within budget.

The NZCF Board is delighted to present Kylie with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and delivery of the 2024 World Choir Games.
