Visiting conductor Dr. Pearl Shangkuan

Dr. Pearl Shangkuan, a highly sought-after choral conductor, lecturer and clinician will be visiting New Zealand later this month, and there's a wonderful opportunity to learn from her in Auckland.

Dr. Shangkuan will present a lecture and take a masterclass on Sunday 16 June at the University of Auckland School of Music, which all are warmly invited to observe.

Dr. Shangkuan is the National President-Elect of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Music at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the chorus director of the Grand Rapids Symphony, a Grammy-nominated professional orchestra. She has served on many competition juries internationally and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.

She will give a presentation she gave at the recent ACDA conference – Leading with Body, Mind, Spirit, Voice: The Preparation of a Conductor – at 4pm on Sunday 16 June in the theatre of the University of Auckland School of Music. From 6.00 – 8.30pm there will be a masterclass for 8 conductors, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
