We are delighted to announce The Big Sing regional adjudicators for 2026.
Rachael Griffiths-Hughes
Auckland, Otago and Southland
Rachael Griffiths-Hughes is one of leading performers and academics. She is Director of Music at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music, where she teaches Music history, ear training and directs the University choir.
Rachael performs as harpsichordist and organist with many ensembles, recently as soloist with the NZSO. Her long-term research interest is the editing and performance of 17th and 18th century sacred cantatas. She has adjudicated for both The Kids' Sing and The Big Sing and was on the adjudication panel for the 2024 World Choir Games.
John Rosser CNZM
Nelson-Marlborough, Wellington, Taranaki and East Coast
John Rosser has an extensive and deep background in choral music. He conducts the Auckland chamber choir Viva Voce which he formed in 1985 and was Chorus Director/Associate Conductor with NZ Opera for 23 years.
John’s involvement with NZCF includes being Chair (2006-17), directing The Big Sing and Sing Aotearoa, and devising the NZCF Anthems Project for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. He was Artistic & Games Director of NZ’s highly successful World Choir Games in 2024. John is on the Board of the International Federation for Choral Music and was awarded a CNZM for services to choral music in 2022.
Virginie Pacheco
Canterbury-West Coast, Waikato-Bay of Plenty and Manawatu-Whanganui
Originally from France, Virginie Pacheco moved to Montreal, Canada to complete a master's degree in Choral Conducting. She won the Iwan Edwards Award in Quebec in 2015, and she has worked with esteemed conductors such as Iwan Edwards, Andrew Megill and Joseph Flummerfelt. She assisted Elise Bradley with the Ontario Youth Choir in 2017. Virginie is a co-founder and co-artistic director of Adleisia, a Montreal-based, award-winning choir. Currently based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara|Wellington, she co-directs Supertonic and has developed a growing interest in orchestral conducting.
