Success at Taranaki SingFest
5 Nov 2026

Taranaki held another successful SingFest last month. Hosted by the Taranaki Harmony Chorus, seven choirs gathered and performed to an appreciative audience in St Andrews Church, New Plymouth.
Choirs came from a range of styles and genres - and from as far afield as Hawera - providing a colourful and varied programme.
Thank you and congratulations to the Taranaki Harmony Chorus, Ombré, The Sunshine Singers, The Madrigal Companie, Hawera Theatre Trust Singers, Ars Nova Choir New Plymouth, and City Sounds Taranaki!
NZCF CEO Christine Argyle attended the concert and wrote the next day: "What a vibrant and varied SingFest in Taranaki yesterday! The performances showcased the breadth and talent of the local choral community, and it was also a wonderful example of singers coming together to support those in need."

A huge thank you to Taranaki Harmony Chorus and SingFest 2026 for the generous donation made to the New Plymouth Community Foodbank.
We are so grateful for your support and for thinking of our community. Your contribution helps us continue providing food and support to local whānau when they need it most. Ngā mihi nui to everyone involved!

The strength and importance of events such as SingFest is demonstrated in comments made by choir and audience members:
- Ombré is grateful to be part of such a special occasion, and the feedback from our ladies has been incredibly positive. One of my members described it beautifully: “What an encouraging and uplifting experience it was being part of SingFest. Listening to all the choirs was a joy, and a privilege! Thank you to all involved, a well-run event!” - Lisa Rangi
- A lovely afternoon indeed! Great to listen to and mingle with other choirs.
- Thank you NZ Choral Federation for organizing this fabulous event again. Special thanks to Jeff Grange and Justin Clinton-Gohdes.
