NZCF Wellington's May Workshop 2021
7 Apr 2021
7 April 2021
One of the cornerstone events of the Wellington choral scene is the annual May Workshop, hosted by the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Choral Federation. With the exception of 2020, the event has run every year since 1988 and typically attracts over 150 singers from across the Wellington region and beyond. Traditionally held over the first weekend of May, the event starts with rehearsals on the Friday evening, continues the next day with morning and afternoon rehearsals, and culminates in a public concert on Saturday evening.
The 2021 May Workshop will be the 33rd of its kind and will feature Fauré’s Requiem and Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. They’ll be rehearsed and conducted by Brent Stewart, Music Director of the Orpheus Choir of Wellington, sub-principal percussionist of Orchestra Wellington, and Assistant Director of the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir.
This year’s May Workshop will be held on the evening of Friday 30 April and Saturday 1 May, with the public performance at 7.30pm on Saturday night. Please note there has been a change of venue to the Alan Gibbs Centre, Wellington College, 15 Dufferin Street.
