Meet our new Development Manager, Lisa Bates
2 Sept 2021
We’re delighted to welcome Lisa Bates to the NZCF team as our new Development Manager. In this new role, Lisa will work on designing, implementing and managing a revenue generation strategy to enable NZCF to increase its capacity, capability and long-term sustainability.
Lisa has worked in the New Zealand arts sector for over 25 years and has held various trustee positions over that time, including on the boards of the NZSO and Royal New Zealand Ballet. She is currently a Trustee of the Mackelvie Trust (one of Auckland’s largest public art collections) and the Friends of St David’s Charitable Trust.
Lisa has contributed to fundraising strategies for most of the large arts organisations in Aotearoa. She received the Fundraiser of the Year award for her Q Theatre work in 2010 and was awarded a New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to arts and philanthropy in 2017.
In 2018, Lisa sold her company share in the design and brand agency Hawkins & Co in Britomart in order to become more involved in the day-to-day business of culture. Since then, Lisa has worked as an arts consultant helping non-profit organisations to strengthen their capacity through fundraising and sector collaboration.
Lisa says “It’s such a joy to be working for the choral sector and I am absolutely delighted to be joining NZCF. Although I don’t sing (publicly) I am a huge fan of the musical voice and a true believer in the sense of community that group singing can inspire”
Please feel free to contact Lisa at lisa.bates@nzcf.org.nz if you have any ideas for fundraising or friendraising.
