‘Party Like It’s The 80s!’ as ILT Sing Out Celebrates 80 Years

An iconic Southland tradition hit an historic milestone this year. The ILT Sing Out returned to Invercargill for its 80th Anniversary Show, inviting the community to turn back the clock and "Party Like It’s The 80s!"

Running over three big nights, this year's landmark celebration showcased nearly 700 young performers from 17 local schools, all taking to the Civic Theatre stage to sing and dance through the greatest hits of the 1980s.

Under the expert guidance of Musical Director Sarah Rae, the energetic lineup included crowd favourites Dr Mike (Buick) and the Euphoric Kids, a special guest appearance by Euphoria, and individual performances from each school choir.

And because no 80th birthday is complete without a party, audience members were surprised with a very big birthday cake to mark eight decades of community music.

"It was a night of pure nostalgia, filled with opportunities to sing along to some of the greatest hits of the '80s" says Sarah Rae.

Congratulations Invercargill for this amazing event, which is always a highlight on the cultural calendar. May it continue for many years to come!
