Changes on the NZCF Board

#

November 2022

We’re sorry that two of our highly valued Governance Board members – Robert Wiremu and Megan Hurnard – have recently stepped down from the Board.

Robert was elected to the Governance Board in 2018 and brought to NZCF extensive experience as a choral singer, director and composer, as well as a vital understanding of te ao Māori, which has been particularly helpful in the Board’s development of a Diversity Strategy.

Megan joined the Board in 2020, bringing with her a high level of choral experience as a former member of NZ Youth Choir and current member of Voices NZ and The Tudor Consort, along with a background in senior management roles in the public sector. Her understanding of governance, strategic planning and digital strategies has been hugely valuable to the Board.

Welcome to Melissa Absolum

We’re delighted to announce that Melissa Absolum has agreed to be co-opted to the Governance Board until the next election. Melissa has had substantial choral experience, having sung in The Graduate Choir, New Zealand Youth Choir and Voices New Zealand. She is on the management committee of The Graduate Choir, of which she was a foundation member twenty-one years ago. She is Deputy Principal at Māngere East School and has governance experience as a member of the Boards of Trustees at Papatoetoe North School and Mount Albert Grammar School. Melissa’s iwi affiliation is with Ngāti Mutunga and she will bring valuable knowledge of tikanga Māori to the NZCF Board, along with extensive understanding of the education sector.
