Giving Direction and Singing Matters

Choral directors and leaders of children’s singing can now hone their skills from the comfort of their own home in Zoom sessions with an ACD advisor.

In 2025 we are continuing our successful series of Zoom sessions, offering online Giving Direction coaching for directors of adult and secondary school choirs, and online Singing Matters coaching for conductors working in primary and intermediate schools. 

The coaching sessions are one-to-one and are tailored to each conductor's individual needs. Enrolment in Giving Direction or Singing Matters gives you 90 minutes with your mentor, which can either be in one session or split across two shorter sessions. 

What you focus on during your 90-minute coaching is entirely up to you. When you register, you’ll receive a menu of topics and will be asked to select the areas you’d most like to explore. Options include score preparation, rehearsal management, voice matching, blend, gesture, and other aspects of rehearsal technique. You can also submit a video of your conducting beforehand or choose to conduct live during the Zoom session for real-time feedback on your gesture—though this is completely optional.

Dates and times of these online workshops will be arranged according to the availability of the registrants and mentors and will most likely take place during evenings or at weekends.
