The Franklin Community Choir is an SATB choir of 35 - 40 voices, which celebrated its 25th anniversary with Haydn’s "The Creation" in 2012. The choir sings a variety of choral music, and normally performs three concerts a year, in Pukekohe.
In 2008 the choir joined forces with two other choirs - the South Auckland Choral Society and Sing Waiheke - and the St Matthew's Chamber Orchestra, to perform the Auckland premiere of Karl Jenkins’s huge work "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace" in the Auckland Town Hall, receiving rapturous applause and a standing ovation! FCC performed "The Armed Man" again in three concerts with the South Auckland Choral Society and members of Cantorum in 2015, for the ANZAC centenary.
FCC has invited guest conductors for each concert over the years, though for the last three years, up to early 2016, the choir has been conducted by Iain Tetley for all its concerts. In May 2016 FCC will combine with SACS for Mendelssohn's "Elijah" at Pukekohe High School on 8 May and the Hawkins Theatre in Papakura on 15 May. Both concerts start at 2.30pm.
