Making the most of Choral Connect

We’re counting down now to Choral Connect ’19 and are excited by the great range of presentations, masterclasses and concerts on offer! If you can’t come for the whole conference, it’s still possible to take advantage of our day rates:

$120 ACD members

$135 NZCF personal members

$150 Non-NZCF members

$85 students

As well as hands-on conducting and accompanying classes each day, there’ll be masterclasses with our guest choirs, the Toronto Children’s Chorus and the New Zealand Secondary Students choir, as well as vocal pedagogy sessions with Catrin Johnsson and rehearsals with Karen Grylls for the ‘grand finale’ performance piece: Canticles of Light by Bob Chilcott.

We’ll also have repertoire reading sessions with Mark Stamper and Megan Flint and presentations on the following topics:

  • Choral Sound Concept – Vowels are the Key! – Elise Bradley
  • Not JUST an accompanist! – Rachel Fuller
  • A well-trained ear, a well-trained intelligence, a well-trained heart and a well-trained hand: A Kodály-inspired approach to developing musical literacy through choral singing – Megan Flint
  • Efficient and Engaging Rehearsal Strategies for the Community Choir – Brent Stewart
  • Building Connections, Singing For Life – Julie Wylie

And to cap it all off, three concerts featuring nine choirs:

Thursday 11 July, 7.30pm: Choral Kids – featuring Lyrica from Kelburn Normal School, Schola Cantorum from St Mark’s Church School and Wellington Young Voices

Friday 12 July, 7.30m: Choral Connections – featuring Inspirare, Supertonic and The Tudor Consort

Saturday 13 July, 7.30pm: Choirs Connect – featuring the Toronto Children’s Chorus, the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir and the Choral Connect Convention Choir.
