Hear the music of Chris Artley

Guest composer for Sing Aotearoa 2016 Chris Artley is looking forward to hearing the world premiere performance of his new work, the Language of Stones, with words by Robina Adamson. This piece will be sung by the SA16 Festival Choir, Te Kotahitanga Manu Reo, directed by our guest conductor Ben Parry.

Hear two of his award-winning compositions: O magnum mysterium and Agnus Dei

Chris will be giving two workshops at the conference, ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Composing for Choirs’. The first is a brief introduction to jazz harmony and ideas for reharmonising melodies, with a focus on how this can be used in a choral context. The second looks at word setting, voicing, textures and accompaniment when composing and arranging for choirs.

Chris will have a stall at Sing Aotearoa with a selection of his choral compositions for inspection. Any choirs thinking about commissioning a new piece are most welcome to have a chat with him!
