Performing Anthony Ritchie’s Gallipoli to the Somme with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra in October 2016 was both a thrilling and heart-rending experience. The work was originally commissioned by the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra with funding from Creative New Zealand – a film of the Dunedin production is available on SOUNZ at

There is great excitement in the ranks of City Choir Dunedin as 30 of our members are soon winging their way to London to participate in two UK performances: 2 June at the Sheldonian Theatre, University of Oxford and 13 June at Queen Elizabeth Hall, Southbank, London. Among those present will be David Burchell (music director of City Choir Dunedin), Anna Leese (soprano), Annabel Drummond (violin) and Jon Stainsby (baritone).
The London performance’s conductor is Simon Over, who was also the conductor for the Dunedin premiere. The UK performances are with the Parliament Choir and the Southbank Sinfonia.
City Choir Dunedin and Anthony Ritchie are to be heartily congratulated on this exciting collaboration.
