Since its successful debut in 2011, the Asia Pacific Youth Choir has offered an annual opportunity for young singers from across our culturally diverse region to perform together and exchange ideas and their shared passion for music.
In 2019 two young New Zealand singers were selected to join the Asia Pacific Youth Choir for performances in Hong Kong and Macau. Charlotte Leigh and Melissa Tsoi were extremely grateful for the experience, which allowed them to sing alongside 40 other choristers from across the region. In an article they wrote for the August 2019 edition of eBreve, they said:
Rehearsing from early morning to late evening, we were constantly learning and improving, as well as getting to know each other well. Since the singers in the Asia Pacific Youth Choir come from many different countries, we also learnt about other cultures, sang in multiple languages, tried different foods and made lifelong friendships! We have come back to New Zealand with great memories and feeling newly inspired!
