NZCF NATIONAL EVENTS 2010

NZCF's multi-cultural, multi-art festival was first held in 1990 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. Scheduled every few years, Sing Aotearoa brings together singers, writers and composers from all over New Zealand for an intensive weekend of concerts, workshops, performances and cultural exchange. The most recent Festival was held Rotorua over Labour Weekend, 23rd to 26th October, 2009 - see webpage for details.

The next Sing Aotearoa festival will be held in Rotorua from Friday1 to Monday 4 June 2012 (Queen's Birthday Weekend)

Primary school choirs from around New Zealand take part in regional festivals designed as an opportunity for children and conductors to perform in a supportive environment with constructive feedback. The Classic Sing

THE CLASSIC SING is aimed at community singing groups (mainly adult choirs). Festivals are held around New Zealand in various regions with highly skilled adjudicators commenting on performances, and providing each participating group with a written report. The Choral Clinics

The NATIONAL CHORAL CLINICS 2010
The Choral Clinics 2010 offer substantial coaching from experienced, highly qualified overseas practitioners to conductors and singers, and follow the very successful clinics held in August/September 2008.

 SOUNZ

SOUNZ/NZCF Choral Composition Award
This competition, introduced by the NZCF to mark the third millennium, is run in conjunction with THE BIG SING National Finale and SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music. A trophy is presented by the NZCF Auckland Region, as well as a cash prize, for the best choral piece composed by a New Zealand secondary school student. The winning piece is also performed at THE BIG SING Finale by one of the Finale choirs.
